Heroes on Bikes

Jun 29, 2021

OK, we can’t help ourselves. Here is a good-news, do-unto-others, cycling story.

One of the 23 cycling teams in the Tour de France is South Africa based Team Qhubeka NextHash (see footnote). It can be easy to forget that bicycles are a vital means of transportation in many parts of the world. Not as an environmental statement, but simply as a basic means of transportation. The difference between average and opportunity.

Maybe nowhere is this more obvious than in Africa. Qhubeka Charity (A South Africa charity and part of the World Cycling Relief program) moves people forward with bicycles in South Africa.  People are provided the opportunity to earn bicycles which improve access to schools, jobs, healthcare.

Listen to Sindile Mavundla one of the drivers behind Heroes on Bikes, a Qhubeka Charity program:

“Heores on Bikes started as a wild idea.  It was a response to COVID-19.  We sat around and we thought what can we do in terms of contributing to getting people on bicycles.”

Translation: Apply what you learn, keep practicing it, and the God of peace will be with you.  Philippians 4:9

Note: qhubeka is a Zulu world meaning continue, keep in, keep on, keep up, move on, go-ahead. NextHash is a sponsor of the Qhubeka cycling team. They are a global financial services firm providing leading edge digital and digital currency solutions.
