Saturday Worship: In His Word

Sep 7, 2024

Jesus answered, saying: “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize where we are out of alignment with God’s Will for our lives. It straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do every good work. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Heaven and earth will pass away, but God’s words will not pass away. Commit, then, these words to your heart. Teach them diligently to your children. Talk of them when you are at home or out for a walk; at bedtime and the first thing in the morning. Journal passages the Holy Spirit impresses upon you. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Note 1)

We are in a series on worship. About recognizing that the Church is not peripheral to the world, that the world is peripheral to the Church. Jesus at the center of it all. About what worship looks like from that Worldview. About offering the totality of our lives as an act of worship to a loving, majestic, and faithful God. An active effort to close the gap between one’s heart and the God it adores is worship at its best. Worship springs naturally from the Word of God. It is not only pleasing to Him, it is our sword and our shield.

Application: Satan’s greatest weapon is man’s ignorance of God’s Word (Note 2). Let part of your daily worship include using an organized Bible reading plan to read and study the Word of God.

Note 1: Matthew 4, 2 Timothy 3, Matthew 24, Psalms 119, Deuteronomy 6
Note 2: A. W. Tozer (1897 – 1963)
