For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me.” “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-36, 40 NIV

Whoever wishes to meet Jesus must meet him in places where brothers and sisters of Jesus are hungry, thirsty, naked, unwanted, sick, or in prison. Whoever keeps himself distant from these places remains distant from Jesus.” Richard Wurmbrand (Note 1)

Note 1 – Richard Wurmbrand (1909 – 2001) lived under extreme persecution. Raised in Romania and imprisoned for his faith, he was an Evangelical Lutheran priest of Jewish descent. He spoke and wrote extensively that Communism and Christianity were incompatible. In 1967, he and his wife founded the organization that is known today as Voice of the Martyrs, which works with and for persecuted Christians throughout the world (https://www.persecution.com/).
