Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. You will reap exactly what you plant. If you plant in the field of your natural desires, from it you will gather the harvest of death; if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life. So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest. So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone, and especially to those who belong to our family in the faith. Galatians 6:7-10 GNT
As Christians, we are still smarting from the display of evil at the opening of the Olympics in Paris, France on Friday, July 26, 2024. We are reminded of two things: i) God is a God of both love and justice and He will not be mocked; and ii) the clarity of the lateness of the hour of the spiritual battle in which we are engaged (Note 1). Such manifest, persistent, and pervasive evil evident in Paris could not be other than spiritual warfare (Note 2).
“The issue is now quite clear. It is between light and darkness and every one must choose his side.” G. K. Chesterton (1874 – 1936)
And then there is this. For the athlete who is a Believer, the dilemma is huge: “I have given years of my life in preparation for participation in the Olympics. Do I now follow Christ and pull out? Letting down my teammates and country. What would Jesus do?” There is at least one Christian athlete at the Olympics who is trying to figure out the answer to this question: Do I withdraw and go home, or do I continue to participate in a corrupted games?
Here then is whatnow2do: Let us pray without ceasing for that person. That God’s mighty grace would abound on them and that they would experience the clear movement of the Holy Spirit.
Note 1: For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age. Ephesians 6:12 GNT
Note 2: Satan knows the Word of God declares that Satan loses. So why does he persist? Herewith:
1. Satan is a prideful narcissist. As such, he lives in an altered reality where Truth does not exist and he may have convinced himself that he will win. Remind you of anyone you know?
2. He is filled with rage toward God. A hateful, revenge-seeking rage. He knows not the principle that you cannot drink poison and expect the other person to die. He desires that as many of us as possible do not accept Christ or that we fall-away, thus frustrating God’s plan.
3. He desires a lot of company in the Pit. The only variable that Satan actually has an impact on is the number of souls he gets to claim. Any soul who doesn’t obey Jesus belongs to him.
