The Last Full Measure Of Devotion

May 27, 2024

On Memorial Day, America pauses to remember the ultimate sacrifice of the hundreds of thousands of service men and women who have given their lives to defend freedom. To remind ourselves that our freedom was purchased by brave soldiers who walked toward the guns held by those who would take that freedom away.

We submit that President Lincoln put it best (Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863; Adapted):

It is for us, the living to be dedicated to the unfinished work which they have so nobly carried on. It is for us to be dedicated to the great task remaining before us. That from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion.

That we be resolved that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Let us ever remember. And let us rededicate ourselves to the mission.
