For Such A Time As This

Feb 20, 2024

The Context: Many of us don’t think about it often or at all, but we are living in a post-Christian world. As little as a hundred years ago, a Judeo-Christian Worldview was the predominant marker in (Western) personal and public life. It has been replaced by various Eastern, Atheist, secular, and laissez-faire belief systems. Man’s desire to be his own God (unwillingness to surrender) has resulted in a loss of objective (Biblical) truth. This has been accompanied by a complete loss of intellectual curiosity (the willing suspension of disbelief) and moral integrity.

So what now 2 do?

As it turns out (see the Providence of God), this may just be one of the greatest times to be alive and to be a Christian (Note 1). The delineation between Truth and relativism will become clearer and clearer. And with it, the opportunity to witness for The Kingdom will become greater and greater (Note 2).

The Word: Now all glory to God who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to do exceedingly abundantly more than we would ever dare to ask, hope or dream for. Ephesians 3:20-21, Paraphrased

The Application: Great faith is the product of great fights. Great testimonies are the outcome of great tests. Great triumphs can only come out of great trials. (Note 3)

Let the race begin.

  1. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion? (Esther 4:14b AMPC)
  2. See: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
  3. Smith Wigglesworth, plumber, theologian (1859 – 1947)
