Praying God’s Word Back To Him

Feb 23, 2020

Stuck for a prayer of thanksgiving? Not sure how to pray for a specific someone or situation? God’s word never returns void. Here are some examples of prayers of thanksgiving and intercession modeled on God’s word.

God’s Word: Give thanks to the Lord; call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples. 1 Chronicles 16:8 CSB

A Prayer: Father, I am grateful for all you have provided. I am thankful for the world you have created for us, for the nourishment you provide on my table, and for the spiritual nourishment of Your Word and Your presence. Thank you. Amen.

God’s Word: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

A Prayer: Father, I lift up my friend David to you. I pray that he would learn what it means to trust in You with all his heart. And not try to figure things out on his own. I pray that he would submit to you in all areas of his life and in turn Lord, you would direct his path. Amen.

God’s Word: Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 TLB

A Prayer: Father, you are love. Help me to be patient and kind, never jealous or envious, selfish or rude. Help me not to demand my own way. Help me to not be irritable to not hold grudges, and to not even notice when others do it wrong. Help me to speak out about injustice where you prod me to, and to rejoice when truth wins out. Help me to be a loyal friend to others no matter the cost, and to always expect the best of them. Amen.
